What is a strike-off?
A strike-off is a test print or dyeing produced before a production run so the buyer can approve the colour and pattern.
It is the last point at which a colour problem costs a sample rather than a shipment. Approving a strike-off in writing is what gives a supplier a defence when a buyer later disputes shade.
Strike-off approval should gate the production run in the system rather than in someone’s memory, because the cost of running a print without approval is the entire lay.
